Final Revised piece

In the begining of the book, Artemis has been memory swiped. Now all his genius ideas, plans and past thoughts are gone. He then begins to act like a theif, and goes into his criminal life. Artemis has a lot of things on his back to worry about. I'm not so sure if he could complete all his important tasks. Artemis has to watch out because his old time rival is back, Opal Koboi. I think its the way that Artemis has to overcome his difficulties would probably be the hartdest thing for him, since he usually lives his life one way.

Artemis has had his memory all swiped away. Now he has his criminal lifestyle to fall back on. He plans to steal this famous painting from a German Bank. Although, every move he takes is being watched by his old time rival, Opal Koboi. She looks to seek revenge from Artemis. She was in a coma last year, and now she is making a comeback. Artemis has a big target on his head. He is also confused, wondering what his last thoughts were , but can't seem to remember.

As I'm reading through the story, I looked at details that described the pressure he goes through he pretty much feels like he is a disappointment Artemis is constantly checking to see whether or not Opal is spying on him and Butler, his friend. He constantly says "Is Opal looking at us , or I wonder if Opal is near" He is up for the fight and ready to go. Opal is an evil pixie that had set up Captain Holly Short for the murder of LEP commander, Julius Root. Which she actually did. Artemis's biggest problem is Opal and dosen't yet know how to overcome the huge obstacles she puts up. She is so dangerous.Someone like her should be locked in prison. In other stories I have read ,most characters have some uncertainies or something that they feel uncomfortable about. Whether it's a

Now that Opal is back and is ready to seek revenge on Artemis he has to be on the top of his game. Training and being on the lookout for any of her soldiers sent out to do the job. Artemis forgetting a lot of his past thoughts and memories didn't help him either. He dosen't even remember his run in with the fairies. Then Artemis and Captain Holly become friends and Artemis helps Holly with the murder case of Julius Root, which Koboi comitted. Everyone knew that Root was like a father to Holly, showing him how to fight and defend and how to show confidence in himself.

I know that its going to take a while for Artemis to get on the right track and I hope it happens soon. He has a lot of good friends and mentors to show him what he has forgotten. He has to be stopped from trying to steal the painting in the German Bank and he also promised to help Capatain Holly Short, because he was framed from the murder and Koboi is after him with many soldiers on the lookout . That's why Artemis has a lot on his back and has to get his act together before he ends up dead or in a coma just like Opal was in.

"The Drummer Boy of Shiloh", by: Ray Bradsbury

In the passage, "Drummer of Shiloh", Joby faces many problems and has so many thoughts on his mind.  He is taking on such a huge challenge, The Civil War. Joby goes off on his own to cry in the peach orchard. Nervous about what was going to happen and  frustrated about his job. Being the drummer boy who keeps the steady marching beat for the soldiers, which he found useless. He felt pretty miserable and needed someone to open up too. Joby needed some to express his ultimiate fears and the importance of his job. That is when the General showed up, and gave Joby something to listen too. The General tells Joby, " Go on ahead and cry, I did the same yesterday". Joby starts to listen and quits his crying. I think we all should have someone there for whether it's a friend, teacher or our parents. We need someone to know what is going on in our daily lives. When I feel strange or have a moody attitude, Everyone usually asks, "what is the matter or how are you feeling?". This lets me know that someone really cares about me.And thats probably how Joby felt when The General came to him with advice and words of dignity.

Joby sits in the peach orchard crying and waiting, until a figure appears. It's the General. He comes and sits next to the boy, noticing  that he is soaking in his tears. The General knows how Joby feels , because he cried himself yesterday.Joby  still with his hands on his face listens to the General while he talks teling the young boy that evryone will be scared , its  normal. No one is going to know exactly what will happen. The General says, "most of these men right here think they all will be returning home, but only a few will survive." I understand why Joby is scared, but I would be even more scared if I was soldier always looking for shelter and survival methods.

The General starts to get a little bit more detailed about his strong advice and compliments. Joby starts to question, " what is my job and how is important?". General replies by saying "Your the drummer boy, the heart of army. You keep a steady beat for the soldiers. ", The General goes on to say that when the general is left behind. Your second in command to lead. Joby feels much better and sounds  pretty proud., Knowing that he has a hard job to master. I feel that when The General was telling Joby his job it feels the exact same way when my parents tell me that my job is school, and to work hard. That's the way to success. You can  get what you want when you put in the extra work and determination.

Joby finally sees what his job is all about and has some what of good confidence. Joby holds his drum to the sky showing his responsilbility. The General had done so much for Joby giving him smart advice and motivational words. I'm proud of Joby that he finally has the confidence that he so desparately needed. Overall, Joby has had some lack of confidence and thanks to the General for being like a father, nutured Joby to calm him down. We all need some to mentor us and guide ud through the right path thats what the General did for Joby and like what my parents do for me.

The "Great Gatsby takes place in the rough early 1920's, when alchol was banned to be manufactured, Millionaires started to smuggle beer and wine into the U.S. Nick Carraway is the main character of the book. He was a graduate from Yale University and also fought in the war. Well he rents a house near the Gatsby mansion, Nick wants to start a career and get a job to make money. These two characters meet up when Nick is incvited to one of Mr.Gatsby's elaborate house parties. The rest goes on from there.

Responding to responses

1).   I felt that Perzya did a really great one by examinig her character Virginia closley, noticing all the details about her, like complications and accomplishments.i know how some over weight people feel and the way she describes the book like the preview of a new movie is oustanding. The character's issue is clearly labeled so you dont have to guees or search. The lesson of her book would be everyone isn't perfect ,but the way of how we deal with it is up to us. and girls are mostly the ones that are concern on how they look and attract and weight is a huge problem in America.

2).I also liked Lydia's reader's response, because its straight forward and gets to the point and I felt like I was reading the book twice . She mentioned the dreams and hopes of LaVaughn wanting to achieve big goals in life and then she gets this job where she has to take care of children that have to work their way from the bottom to the top. she did a nice job with making sure she got a lot of the components to making a great response.

Make Lemonade

Make Lemonade, by: Virginia Euwer Wolff

The book I read over the summer was the Great Gatsby, Relic Master and Make lemonade. I choose this

one because it was  like a high schooler life and I'm going to high school so  I was really engaged in the

book. A brief summary about the book would be, Jolly can't take care of her little kids with missing fathers.

She also dosen't have much of a job either. so she puts up a post for " babysitter needed bad ! ". Then soon

Verna La Vaughn, a young girl with big dreams comes along and helps Jolly out with Jilly and Jeremy. La

Vaughn has a high goal of going to college and her mother says she really dosen't have that kind of money,

but will try hard to work so it could happen.

Verna, wants to be very successful in whatever she is doing. Whether its school work or taking care of kids.

She is like a perfectionist. I think every child should go to college becuase it gives extra education and the

chance to get a really good job. Since her mother is trying to work hard to make money and when she gets

a check she puts it into a seperate account just for La Vaughn's college fund., if La Vaughn goes to college

she would be the first one to go out of all the people in her apartment. Jolly is a young mother with a whole

lots of struggles and worries. She is a single mother with both of the husbands gone. She isn't so clear when

speaking english.so when La Vaughn comes she helps Jolly turn the "lemons in her life to lemonade, which is

sweet. I like how the author came up with such a story full with teamwork and , everyone tries to get their

work done.

As the story goes on Jolly finds her life becoming better As she takes an evening shift and La Vaughn

comes from school and watches the kids til' late in the evening. La Vaughn describes the children as filthy,

no good food and no learning in the household. La Vaughn becomes to be very good friends with Jolly and

starts to love the kids. She plays with them, cleans them and teaches them. Jolly feared that if she had

accepted the welfare handouts that she would lose custody of the kids. La Vaughn was getting Jolly's life

how she didn't have any family to fall back on, didn't really go to school, but after a while it gets better.  I

think  everyone in the story gets something positive out of it. La Vaughn is on her path to college, Jolly gets

her life together and the mother gets to see her baby go to college. so everone's lemons turn into lemonade.
