6). What is rebillion? Why do so many young people "rebel"? Is rebillion a necessary element of growing up?

Rebillion is when young people take charge of their lives, they feel that their parents shouldn't control them anymore and they want to do what they want to do. It usually occurs when kids are becoming young adults and start to realize what person they want to be. So many young people rebel because they want to be grown. I think kids want to be grown becuase grown-ups get to stay up late and eat whatever they want, or wear what ever they want. Their is a lot that we see that we want to do, but there is a lot we don't see. Adults have to be responsible for themselves and they always have to take responsilbility for their actions. They also have to pay bills and make sure that they are on task. Children should enjoy their childhood while it lasts because when its over you can't go back.

This a song that I feel reflects being a rebel.

Control : Janet Jackson

This is a story about control, my control

Control of what I say, control of what I do

And this time Im gonna do it my way

I hope you enjoy this as much as I do

Are we ready? I am? cause it's all about control

And Ive got lots of it

When I was 17, I did what people told me

Did what my father said, and let my mother mold me

But that was long ago

Chorus:

Im in control, never gonna stop

Control, to get what I want

Control, I got to have a lot

Control, now Im all grown up

Final Monologue piece

Derek Hare is African American man with three children (2 sons and 1 daughter) he lives in Brooklyn,New York and is a IT sales executive. This interview takes place when my father is eating dinner and watching basketball. The date is May 26th 2013.

When I was about eighteen or nineteen my grandmother was real ill.
Everybody in the family was looking to me to talk to the doctors, to understand
what was going on and how things would be.  I think that,  it felt good ,that they
understood that I knew a lot about medicine at the time, since I was pre-med in
College. I was able to contribute and give some comfort ,by talking to the doctors and
translating to them, so they could understand what was going on.

My biggest personality change and emotinal feelings I felt while
growing , was when my older brother went to college and I was
home with my mother. I had to go to high school for the fist time, or any
school for that matter as a single person, and not have any one look after me.
It was me on my own, trying to find out who I was and identified more as a
person, more than Troy's little brother.

The worst was when my grandmother past away, I saw that everybody is gonna
have to go through this, I was worried about my nephews, who would one day
see my mom ,their grandmother have to past away. It gives me a good and a bad memory,
because once you get through that you realize that everything is going to fall in place. Everybody is going to go through it, and its a matter of being ready for it.

Final Romeo and Juliet Essay

In Romeo and Juliet, by: William Shakesphere, characters; Tybalt and Mercutio have a strong rivalry. Their similiar and different personalities affect the story and the other characters by causing drama and relationship problems. Tybalt was upset with Romeo , and challenged him to a duel, instead he fought Mercutio, for a little bit , then Romeo shows up, trying to stop the fight. I believe because of  Mercutio and Tybalt's behavoir, they ruined the relationship between Romeo and Juliet.

Mercutio is good friends with Romeo, and wants the best for him. In both movies, he is portrayed as an  outrageous and loud person. Later, in the story he meets Tybalt, when Romeo shows up to come hang with him. Mercutio and Tybalt play fight , for a bit, but then when it gets to aggresive , Romeo got between them  to break it up, and Tybalt's sword stabs Mercutio. Mercutio jokes and keeps it lighthearted , and says " It was just a scratch", knowing that he was seriously injurned , he didn't want to look like a punk, in front of his friends. When Mercutio collapses and is dying , from the stab wound, Romeo and Benvolio and everyone looks at it , Mercutio's last words are "How come the devil came between us ". As  Mercutio takes his last breath of air , Romeo gets full of rage and goes after Tybalt , looking for a fight.

Tybalt is seen as being a bad guy or big antagonist for Romeo . He challenges Roemoto a duel, because he showed up at the Capulet's royal ball and started to act romantic with Juliet . In the recent, Romeo and Juliet movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, he starts to punch and beat up Romeo, when Romeo asks for peace and refuses to battle him. Mercutio joins  the fight and takes care of Tybalt , by accidently he is badly injurned and dies from not properly taking care of the wound . Romeo full of anger goes after Tybalt seeking for revenge.

I believe that Mercutio and Tybalt contributed to the death of Romeo and Juliet because they had fought each other, and Mercutio was accidently killed by Tybalt's sword. Romeo wanting revenge goes after Tybalt and kills him. Romeo is then bansihed by Prince Escalus and Juliet is deeply depressed,   Romeo then thinks that Juliet is dead when he sees her laying in her casket.Romeo poisons himself and then dies slowly, Juliet wakes up and sees Romeo dead and tries to get some poison in her mouth from Romeo's lips. When it doesn't work Juliet decides to kill herself.

Parents Tend to Share More Bacteria With Family Dogs Than Children

A new study shows that Parents share common bacteria with their dogs , instead of children. The children have a little bit more love for the canine friends instead of the parents ,but studies show that parents and dogs have share bacteria. This study is lead by the University of Colorado Boulder. They looked at different types of transfer modes of microbes from the guts, tounges, foreheads and palmsof members of  60 American families, including the dogs. Scientists wanted to study these bacteria , so it could probably help treat diseases. It says it could help with environmental exposure. Associate Professor Jim Knight and his team sampled 159 people and 36 dogs. About seventeen of the 60 families had children at home ranging from 6 months to 18 years.

Non-ficiton article: For Polar Bears, It's Survival of the Fattest

In Antartica, Polar Bears have to compete to stay alive, the fattest one usually has the longer live. Global Warming is the thing that threatens their live, the ice is melting and not giving the Polar bears a proper place to live. The ploar bears migrate around to find places with more food and shelter. A new studies has shown that the average polar bears must consume thousands of calories. During November to December, the sea ice starts to melt and the polar bears migrate to a different area. When the polar bears are gone from their original habitat. Scientists have noticed how Polar bears have evolved from being predators.

Some of the Polar bears might not see any food for long while and when they do they probably are weak, because they don't have enough energy. They will end up dead. The polar bears have to eat as much as they can ,so they could survive the harsh climates of the winter. Dr. Cherry Ross ahs done some investigations on the polare bears and how they interact with each other. The Polar bears now have learned how to adapt to land from when the sea ice has melts they have another place to go. I think the polar bears need to do more adapting if they want to become an ever-lasting species.

Non-fiction article: Remains of Extinct Giant Camel Discovered in High Arctic

In Canada, a research team has found remains of giant camels from the artic ages. The fossils were

based on 30 fossil fragments of a leg bone found on Ellesmere Island. The Camels ancestors were to

have originate some 45 million years ago, they were from North America. Many of these fossil were

collected over some time periods (2006,2008 and 2010) and they are about three-and-a-half million

years old, from the mid-pilocene era. The Artic camel probably lived in a forest-type of environment.

I'm really interested on what types of behavoirs went on in those specific time periods in life. Like

my other non-fiction articles, I like to write about new discoveries that talk about early life. Scientists

were trying to develop a mammoth cell in a petri dish , so they could try to clone mammoths. To

determine how the fossils belong to a camel, they had to perform some kind of scaning which took

some DNA samples to help decide the species. Later discoveries and information will be

discovered, but for right now there is evidence that the camel got it's looks from this animal. I think

this is another idea that challenges the theory of evolution.

Non-Fiction Reader's Response for Feb.28th

In the article, " Sleep Reinforces Learning: Children’s Brains Transform Subconsciously Learned Material Into Active Knowledge", by: Dr. Ines Wilhelm, explains that when children get the full eight hours of sleep they really need, their body gets the energy it needs. It can help them remember more of what they learned in school. " Children's brains transform subconsciously learned material into active knowledgde while they sleep-- even more effectively than adult brains do. " according to the researcher done by Dr. Wilhelm. Studies of adults have shown that sleeping after learning helps support long time space or storage of material that has been learned.

Children need to sleep longer because that's how the earn their focus and staminia to do things in school. Most kids stay up till 11:00 and they then realize in the morning that they needed the sleep. Children between 8 and 11 years of age have been tested on the actions of them not being able to fall asleep. They also tested both age groups when they both go to sleep at the same time, who can remember a larger number of elements from the row of numbers than those who had remained awake in the interim.

When we fall asleep our brain is saving everything it has learned throughtout the day. It is more effective for children than adults. Sleeping is a way fo us to remeber all the things that have happened and it reminds us what we need to work on. Not getting enough sleep is incredibly stressful and it could hurt our health and it makes our physcial appearance look bad. Overall, sleeping longer impacts how much we remember and how much we have learned.

The Poems of Maya Angelou, Reader's Response

During, the book of  Maya Angelou's poems I noticed a lot of powerful expressions and rhythm,

some of these things we looked at class, for example her similies were really powerful, a poem in

paticular caught my eye called "Passing Time". It talked  about how we as people spend the rest of

our lives and how we rarely notice some natural environmental beauties because were to distracted

with other things. Ms. Angelou has some magnificent poems abot human life , relationships and other

social topics.

The book kind of reminds me of "Bronx Masquerade", even thought this book dosen't really have s

storyline, the poems tell a story and if you are real careful on how read you night ubderstand it. In the

Bronx Masquerade, by: Nikki Grimes, a bunch of teenagers write poems to help them overcome bad

situations happening in their neighborhood. Ms. Angelou writes about numerous topics that have to

do with different related social awareness issues. In 2009, Ms. Angelou wrote a poem about Michael

Jackson. The poem was titled " We had him", the poem was read at his funeral by Queen Latifah.

The poems that she has written has given people inspiration and hope. I'm staring to write my own

poetry and looking off her style of writng and examining the type of language and rhythmn she uses.

I think that her poems would be a great mentor text for me when the time comes when we have to

write our own sonets in class. Ms. Angelou had pretty impressive poems ,but her best poem is said to

be "On the pulse of morning", which she read at he inaugaration for Bill Clinton. Since it is Black

History month I chosr to write my reader's response on Ms. Maya Angelou and her magnificent

poems.

Nonfiction Reading Response 3rd marking period

In the article, " New Dinosaur Fossil challenges Bird Evvolution", the co-author, Dr. Gareth Dyke

explains about a new bird dinosaur called the Eosinopteryx. The discovery interrupts the theory that

the famous fossil Archaeopteryx or "the first bird". He feels that their findings suggest that the origin

of flight is more difficult to figure out. The fossil was found in north -eastern China, also the bird was

flightless because of its little wingspan.

I believe that there are many more discoveries to be found, and we don't exactly have a clue to how

the origin of flight became to be,we just need to do a little bit more research on these dinosaurs and

test them. I remember reading a Scholastic Kids Article and it said that paleotoligists found a frozen

baby mammoth in a huge block of ice and scientist were going to figure out a way to clone the baby

mammoth and restart the population.

It is said that birds evolved from a group of dinosaurs called theroods from early Cretaceous period of

the Earth's history. When ever new discoveries of birds are found the theory have beeen changed.

This wasn't a flying bird , so it could not have anything do with  flight, but it has long skinny legs and

fewer feathers to make it have more agiltiy. So, it is going to take a lot more facts and research on

this bird to determine if it helps the theory or not.

Creative Reading Response- The Old Man and the sea

The Old Man and The Sea, by: Ernest Hemingway, tells a story about an old man who wants too live out

the rest of his days on a boat in the ocean. There was a kid who was coming to visit him sometimes,

because he thought the old man was strange and a little interesting, since he was not getting a lot of attention

at home. The Old man's name is Santiago and for right now he has spent a total of 84 days in the gulf of

Mexico without catching any fish. His main problem comes when he finds this really large marlin and then

when it gets away he decides to go after it. Since the boy didn't decide to runoff with the old man he stuck

with his family, but visited the old man shack's everyday, looking for new things to discover. They used to

talk about baseball all the time and their favorite player was Joe DiMaggio. Santiago is really frustrated when

he spends even more time in the water and there is no signs of the marlin or any fish for that matter. I feel

that Mr. Santiago is a really lonely old and he doesn't have people really to talk to him, except the young

little boy. I feel like I could relate to him in some certain ways, because sometimes I'm independent and I

prefer to do things alone, sometimes I sometimes feel like I  need time for myself and there are times when

I feel like I need friends with me. Santiago has a hobby that he likes to do and there is nothing wrong with

that, but I think if he was given the choice to bring the boy he might or might not, because he cares for the

boys safety and he probably would like time for himself.  Santiago becomes a lot more wise and even though

he becomes a little anti-social since he has been away from people that long, at times the water could be a

little rough  he still tries to manage  and pull through and at last he gets the reward he was looking for. I think

this is really good book because it is really descriptive and uses many details to make you actually believe

you were at sea with this guy. I think the author had a great connection with the main character and

envisioned him really well.
